As much as Torres’ talent, what’s stood out to everyone is his maturity.

I think that’s the biggest thing about him, manager Aaron Boone said. There’s a maturity, a calm, a confidence to which he plays the game that’s unique. That’s special for a young guy. He has great ability and tools, but his baseball IQ and feel and confidence and timing are really special.

Torres showed this week that big stages bring out his best. He hit.333 in these four games against Houston, a 4-for-12 showing that ended with the biggest hit he’s had so far.

The Yanks were down 5-3 heading to the ninth, then loaded the bases with nobody out on a walk and two hits against Will Harris.

He started the season obviously in Triple-A and found himself. He got comfortable and got into a little bit of a rhythm there. He hasn’t missed a beat since coming up here. He’s been an absolute factor in us winning games. Quality at-bats at the bottom of the order and extending our lineup.

And he’s some really special defensive plays that he’s made. He’s kind of becoming one of our anchors out there. Elite defense. He’s made a lot of big-time plays.

Before Judge knocked in the go-ahead run, rookie Gleyber Torres continued making an early splash by barreling up a good curveball from Astros reliever Brad Peacock and dropping one into an open patch of grass in left field for a bases-loaded hit that brought in two runs and tied things up 5-5.

Talking over hip hop music that rocked the visiting clubhouse at Minute Maid Park, Judge stopped in mid-sentence after he mentioned how mature Torres is for a 21-year-old.

I don’t think he’s 21, Judge added with a smirk. The way he plays and the way he handles himself and makes adjustments…┬áThat curveball that he got in a situation like that and to drive it like that, you don’t see that too often in a young guy. He was up there and attacking. You’ve got to love having a guy like that in your lineup.

Torres drove in another run with a second-inning sacrifice fly and finished with a 1-for-3, 3-RBI afternoon.

The Yankees have won 12 of their last 13, 11 of 12 since Torres was given his first big-league call-up and handed the starting second base job.

He was all that in the minors, at every level, and Cheap International Soccer Jerseys he’s been all that Cheap Jarome Iginla Jerseys in his short time as a Yankee.
